Jerelyn Resnick

Washington - Email Jerelyn

I have been studying aromatherapy for the last five or six years, with classes at Bastyr University and from ACHS.  This fall I will be taking an online class on phytochemistry.  I have recently retired as a nursing instructor from a school that has BSN and MN majors.  Ok, I say retired, but I still do some teaching.  I am very interested in exploring how nursing and aromatherapy can be combined.  Some nurses in my MN classes use lavender to help patients sleep and use peppermint for nausea, but there is so much more they could be doing. I am also interested in how nurses can use aromatherapy for self-care.  This summer I am teaching a class that has BSN students learning about skin and how to protect it with essential oil products.  Nurses have to use alcohol- based cleanser many times a day so their hands get very dry.  The products they are making are helping them.  I would love to see classes like this be a regular part of nursing education.

Sheryl Beller-Kenner, EdD, Naturopath, Heart Coach - Co-Rep (Canada)

Canada - Email Sheryl

Inspired by Ralph Waldo Emerson, who said, “A weed is a plant whose virtues have not yet been discovered”, I have traveled all across North America to learn about the plants, make extracts & products, and connect with the heart of each plant I could see. I learned even more by then becoming a Chartered Herbalist and a Clinical Aromatherapist. Now, just as comfortable talking about the chemistry & biology of the plants as well as their spirits & energetics, I currently teach hybrid (live-online with online assignments) Advanced-level Aromatherapy classes. To add to my decades of teaching and teacher training, I have now added to all of my classes activities that are based on my more recent learnings in Appreciative Inquiry, Positive Psychology, and highly interactive, online teaching & learning techniques.

As a practitioner, I founded BelArome Holistic Health Centre in Montreal, Canada, in 2000. Established as a multi-practitioner Centre, it was founded on the principle that any health plan for a client must consider all aspects of the client’s life because each aspect is connected to all of the others. No one modality is appropriate for every person at every moment, so practitioners from different modalities are available to offer each client their assistance in their fields of specialization that are outside of mine (naturopathy, herbalism, aromatherapy, Reiki, shamanism, and HeartMath® Practitioner certification. Our One Simple Change Your Way Program continues to offer clients support and consultations in the form of one-on-one consultations, group sessions, professional certification courses, and practitioner consultations.  There are many ways to transform one’s stresses into strengths.

Now that COVID has fractured our world, I have committed myself to empowering people by: connecting and re-connecting the heart of an individual to himself/herself and to others (especially seniors) by offering free interactive group activities; offering interactive resilience training to front-line medical staff; leading groups, non-profit organizations, and organizations to improve their health (literally and figuratively) by exploring the values that will lead them to live more productive days, heart-connected relationships, and joyful lives. My latest research and workshops focus on the effects of combining heart-based meditation & mindfulness with aromatherapy. Doc Childre, in his book, The HeartMath Solution wrote, “As Albert Einstein said years ago, ‘The significant problems we face today cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them’. Developing the capacity to deal with the challenge of living in a stressful, ever-changing world is now more important than ever.” I’m on an important mission to make this world a better and more heart-filled place.

Minnesota - Email Jacqueline

I have been practicing as a nurse since 1993 and have been an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse functioning as a Nurse Practitioner since 1999. I have always been drawn to complementary and integrative practices. I have made referrals and recommendations over the course of my career for these services.

A few years ago I was encouraged by an administrator to explore my personal interest of Aromatherapy. I gave this thought, reviewed the AIA and NAHA sites for educational recommendations, reviewed each school represented and selected Aromahead Institute.

I am a restless learner who appreciates brilliant minds. I seek out individuals, articles, books, lectures, classes and conferences.  My aromatherapist hat has focused in the direction of safe use. I also use preparations that enhance the exploration of breath and the movement of an individual from the sympathetic to the parasympathetic nervous system - when needed during an office visit.

Chris Mack - Atlantic Region

Florida & Atlanta  - Email Chris

I started my adult life at Colorado State University, studying engineering and Industrial Science.  I enlisted in the Army, and served as a tank crewman, and as a scout helicopter crew chief in a cavalry squadron.  After my enlisted period of 10 years I worked for a short 6 years in retail, but the call to service was too much to ignore, however, so I joined the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, where I continue to work today.

I have trained with the Atlantic Institute of Aromatherapy, after an abrupt courtship with essential oils, and their PTSD/smell memory relationship.  I continue to study and learn through any means available.  As a certified instructor, I've found a gift for listening and communicating.  I find helping people quite rewarding, and would welcome any opportunity to help.

I am an Aromatherapist at Aromatic Harmony in Plant City, Florida where I specialize in blending, and creating new products.   I became a member of the Alliance of International Aromatherapists over a year ago, and was able to attend the conference in New Jersey last summer, and it really opened my eyes to the scope and mission of the organization.  I'm very excited to be the Florida representative for the Alliance!  Increasing our communication with each other and the rest of the Aromatic community as a whole is my first task so that we increase our membership.  But lurking in the background is also the ideal that making membership to our professional organization is a significant benefit to it's membership!  I love learning, creating, and helping, and I intend to do all of those things here, in the Alliance.
